http://www.jupeman.com/Jupeman/Mid_Engine_Madness.html After enjoying the 951 for three years (aside: Charlie sold the 951 to John in 2000 - a home where it would be transformed into "the Mange"!), Charlie felt the urge for a dedicated track car. Looking for a lighter car that would be easier on brakes and tires, he found "Pesky", a 2.7 liter 4 cylinder 914. Over the course of six years, Pesky was upgraded with a 3.2 liter Carrera engine, 930 brakes, RSR suspension, and a rollcage welded and tied to the suspension points. In 2002, Charlie sold his car to Colin and bought a 2001 Boxster S to be used as a track car. "Chickster" joined the stable and proved a worthy successor to the 914. When improved with a custom track suspension, Chickster turned faster laptimes than Pesky and had heat and air conditioning to boot! The Boxster S was a terrific car to complement the ‘93 964 C2 which Charlie used as a daily driver for almost six years. Through rain, snow, sleet, and all conditions, the C2 soldiered as a faithful means of transport. The Boxster served as the primary track car with its “proper” mid-engine placement. However, the C2 found an opportunity or two to flex its muscle on the track as well. One benefit of the Boxster over the 914 is that the Boxster could carry one kid at a time in safety. Thanks to Porsche’s airbag deactivation system, the Jupelings were able to enjoy open-aired motoring.
